ການເສັງຄຳພາສາອັງກິດ: ຈັດຈຳແບບທີ່ເຮັດໃຫ້ເຈົ້າເຂົ້າໃຈ
PHOtograph, phoTOgraphy, photoGRAPHic — ການເສັງຖືກຕ້ອງມີຄວາມສຳຄັນກວ່າສຽງດຽວໃດ. ນີ່ແມ່ນຮູບແບບທີ່ຄຸບຄອງສ່ວນໃຫຍ່ຂອງຄຳ.
ແປຈາກ English · ອ່ານຕົ້ນສະບັບ
You can pronounce every sound in a word perfectly and still not be understood — if the stress is on the wrong syllable. Native listeners recognise words by their shape first: which syllable is loud, long and high.
Say deSERT instead of DEsert and you have changed the word. Say comFORtable and people will need a second to decode it.
ສິ່ງທີ່ການເສັງແທ້ຈິງ
A stressed syllable is:
- ດັງ,
- ຍາວ,
- ສູງ in pitch,
- and has a full, clear vowel — while the syllables around it often weaken to a schwa
/ə/.
ຮູບແບບທີ່ຄຸບຄອງສ່ວນໃຫຍ່ຂອງຄຳ
English stress is not random. These rules are not perfect, but they are right far more often than guessing:
| ຮູບແບບ | ຕົວຢ່າງ |
|---|---|
| ຄຳສັບສອງພາກສຽງ nouns and adjectives ມີການເສັງທີ່ພາກສຽງທຳອິດ | TAble, HAPpy, WINdow |
| ຄຳກິດສັບສອງພາກສຽງ verbs ເສັງທີ່ພາກສຽງທີ່ສອງ | beGIN, reLAX, deCIDE |
| Same word, noun vs verb | a REcord / to reCORD, a PREsent / to preSENT |
| Words ending in -tion, -sion, -ic stress the syllable before | inforMAtion, deCIsion, enerGEtic |
| Words ending in -ity, -graphy, -logy stress the third from the end | possiBIlity, phoTOgraphy, biOlogy |
ເບິ່ງການເສັງຍ້າຍ
The same root changes its stress as the ending changes:
- PHOtograph → phoTOgrapher → photoGRAphic
- eCOnomy → ecoNOmic
- Educate → eduCAtion
ວິທີຝຶກຝົນການເສັງ
- Clap or tap the table on the stressed syllable while you say the word.
- Exaggerate: make it twice as long as feels natural.
- Then let the other syllables go quiet and quick.

In HolosAccent you listen to a native reference of every phrase first, then record your own take and replay the two side by side. Hearing your PHOtograph next to the native one is the fastest way to notice when the beat lands in the wrong place.
